Most Energy Efficient Schools in Kentucky Announced

Ballard High School (Jefferson County Public Schools, Louisville), Gallatin Upper Elementary and Middle School (Gallatin County Schools, Warsaw), and Plano Elementary School (Warren County Schools, Bowling Green) are the most energy efficient high, middle and elementary schools in Kentucky calculated under the EPA’s ENERGY STAR® program.

Ballard High School received its ENERGY STAR following an extensive renovation of the HVAC systems. Gallatin Upper Elementary and Middle School and Plano Elementary School are new buildings.

The schools were engineered by CMTA, a Louisville-based MEP consulting engineering firm. The architects were RossTarrant (Gallatin) and Sherman-Carter-Barnhart (Plano). As of March 31, 2009, CMTA has engineered 21 ENERGY STAR buildings.
