The new Fayette County Courthouse Complex consists of two 120,000 square foot courthouses located in downtown. CMTA provided all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Engineering services for this project.

The mechanical systems for both buildings are served from a single boiler/chiller plant located in the district court building. Hot and chilled water from this plant serve the variable air volume HVAC systems in both buildings. All of the air-handling units serving this facility have 100% outdoor air capabilities to allow cooling the building without using chilled water when the outdoor conditions allow.

These courthouses are designed to take advantage the latest in courtroom technology. Provisions have been made to video and record all proceedings. Additionally, the courtroom systems can be used for presentation of evidence, depositions, and remote video testimony via teleconferencing from state police posts or crime labs, using virtually any analog or digital format. A dual-channel infrared system is provided for the hearing impaired and for language translation.
