This project is a replacement of the central boiler plant CMTA is the Prime Consultant for this project and is responsible for directing and coordinating the efforts of the Architect, Structural Engineer, Civil Engineer and the Regulatory Compliance Consultant.
The new facility will house two 60,000 lb/hr gas-oil fired water tube boiler, a relocated 40,000 lb/hr gas-oil boiler, water treatment system, a deaerator with surge tank, flue gas economizers, blow down heat recovery system and steam make-up air heaters. This project required careful consideration of scheduling and construction to insure minimal steam outage. Careful scheduling to allow the "old" boilers to be disconnected during the summer allowing the new boilers to be brought on line and tested prior to the winter heating load demand was critical.
Since the plant serves a prison complex, a 500 KVA fuel oil fire emergency generator was installed to provide power to the boilers and all auxiliaries insuring no steam outages during an electric utility company power outage.
